How do you feel about music – could you take it or leave it, or are you passionate about it? Recently I was in a Senior Citizens’ Complex doing a bit of karaoke and singalong. It was amazing to watch people’s reactions. It wasn’t long before they began to smile and join in. Good memories and a good refrain helped lift their spirits – and quickly too. Also in a hotel over Christmas and New Year, I noticed the same thing. People who came feeling a bit jaded, went away smiling.
This is not just a plug for stations like Uplift Radio, but have you considered the impact music could have on you in the daily grind? Play it, sing along with it. Be known as ‘the person with the smile’.
You know, many people are scared of the dark – are you? Monsters under the bed when you’re a child give way to financial, relationship, depressive worries and their accompanying darknesses in adulthood. I read recently that to God, light and darkness are the same – darkness doesn’t phase Him at all or stop him working. However dark things seem for you today, you’re not invisible to Him, certainly not beyond His reach. If you can start to believe this you can perhaps let go of your fears, knowing that the First Light of Dawn is about to break in your experience. Hang in there – it’s almost tomorrow!
Yes, but not by conventional thinking. Just as you cannot add an extra head to your body – of course we all know that two heads are better than one – you cannot truly lift yourself out of that pit called depression. Sometimes in life you need to cling to something bigger than yourself to lift you out and give you clearance. A word, an action, an activity, a special person – all these help. Instead of focusing on your feelings, listen out and look for any or all of the above to start you on the way up. Uplift Radio was designed for this very purpose too. Many have found it an invaluable elevator. Listening regularly could give you the very opportunity you’re needing to clamber out!
