Hi. My name is Jayne, I am married to Allan and we have 3 wonderful children.

Although I was born in Inverness, my father was in the Royal Air Force so my childhood was spent travelling to England, Germany, Cyprus and Belgium. Hopefully this might help you to understand my accent, which many people mistake for being English. We returned to Scotland in 1983. I attended church on and off when I was younger and then started to attend more regularly during my teenage years. However, it wasn’t until after the birth of my first son that I became a Christian.

When I left school I trained as a Registered General Nurse. On completing my training I was fortunate to be able to spend three months, as a voluntary nurse in India, with the Church of Scotland’s Youth-share Scheme. This was an incredible life experience and one that will always stay with me. I then worked as an adult general nurse for many (many!) years. During this time I became involved in working with children at our Church Holiday Clubs and at Sunday School. I really felt as if this was what I wanted to do.

A few years ago I therefore went ahead and retrained as a Primary School Teacher. It’s been quite an undertaking and I couldn’t have completed it without the support of a fantastic network of family and friends. As well as spending time with my family, I enjoy running, playing squash and listening to music. I really hope you enjoy the wonderful variety of music on Uplift Radio and leave feeling positive and encouraged.
